About the Production

A dreadfully deep reflection into the void of stolen identity, RAPTURE IN BLUE is the latest feature by Ryder Houston, creator of the nightmarish short VAMP TILL CUE. Starring Bryce Lederer, Sarah Greenfield, Tanner Garmon, and featuring a special appearance by singer Ariana Kelly, the paranoid film follows a trail of secrets and deception, leading its viewers upon sickening discoveries and graphic realizations. Mired within the cobwebs of the past, RAPTURE IN BLUE pierces itself into today’s spotlight, blazing like a cauldron of fire. Dubbed by Houston “a psychosexual thriller on the edge of the millennium,” RAPTURE IN BLUE siphons its evocative style from a late-century gothic zeitgeist dappled with dirty polaroids, ravished leather, and silver chains, all fixed against the classic noir tableaux of hazy shutters, blinking neon, and glowing cigarettes.

 

While searching for a private place all to themselves, an angsty young man, Jason (Bryce Lederer), and his naively devout girlfriend, Valerie (Sarah Greenfield), stumble across the devilish stranger, Sebastian (Tanner Garmon), whom they discover has just moved into Jason’s once-vacant childhood home. As the pressure rises to satisfy his girlfriend’s desires, so does the overwhelming feeling Jason is being watched. Do the intrusive photographs and omens of doom have something to do with the mysterious new-boy sleeping in his old bedroom, or could it be something even deeper than that—something that’s been locked away for years, itching to be released?  Someplace, somehow resides the ultimate truth in RAPTURE IN BLUE. It's red-hot and boiling over the top... a feverish, non-stop gothic nightmare!

About the Cast

BRYCE LEDERER

"Jason Aylwood"
Bryce Lederer met Ryder Houston while performing at Outcry Theatre near Dallas. His resume includes leading roles in Spring’s Awakening and My Name is Asher Lev, which he starred alongside his real-life father Eddie Lederer, also featured in the film. He is currently studying acting at Roosevelt University in Chicago.

SARAH GREENFIELD

"Valerie Monroe"
Sarah Greenfield, who also performed in several shows at Outcry Theatre, met Houston shortly before production began. She is currently attending Collin College in Plano, Texas.

TANNER GARMON

"Sebastian Brown"
Tanner Garmon met Houston while starring in Greenhill School’s summer production of West Side Story. Since then, he has made a name for himself starring in numerous shows across North Texas, including Big Fish and Rent at Junior Players. He is currently attending school with Lederer in Chicago.

ARIANA KELLY

"Siren in The Void"
Ariana Kelly met Houston while performing at North Texas Performing Arts, where they starred in several musical productions together. She currently studies music at Oklahoma City University.
 

About the Creator

RYDER HOUSTON

Writer, Director, Editor, Composer
Ryder Houston began conceptualizing the idea for the film with his writing partner Camille Hermida-Fuentes in 2016. After going their separate ways, Houston continued transforming the script and completed the first draft of Rapture in Blue in January 2019. Pre-production immediately started to prepare for shooting that summer. After wrapping late July, Houston spent the remaining months putting the pieces together with funds earned in-part by ad revenue from YouTube videos he made when he was younger.
